Looking through National Geographic, this image of women in India returning to their village from the water well was captivating. I was inspired by the color play between the sands, their skin color, the pottery, and the garments they were wearing. I used a very rough paste medium to prep the canvas before I painted. This gives it a rough texture and a feeling of the dryness and heat of that desert scene. The gold foil sparkles on their bracelets giving the feel of bright sunlight.
