I was one of the artists invited to do a painting for a book titled A Time, A Season A Visual Tribute To Oprah Winfrey that was published in 2010. I chose to do a portrait of mid-career Oprah. The background has a representation of her movie role in The Color Purple. The young girls in the green blazers represent the Girls Academy that Oprah founded in South Africa illustrating her philanthropic character. In the sky is a small plane flying a banner that represents her groundbreaking new Oprah Winfrey Network (O W N).

Oprah Winfrey represents the positive choices one can make and succeed. She is a trailblazer creating a giving and sharing platform that encompasses all people while diplomatically and with grace remains true to her own culture. Oprah is a Powerful Black Woman that wields her power with intelligence, grace and humility.
