This painting is part of a series inspired by the title "From Songhai to Symphony Hall" to participate in a traveling show through the art group AAFTA and Hammonds House Galleries Atlanta. In my research of Songhai, I discovered that a main instrument called a Njarka (a one stringed instrument) was used to hold the back beat of the musical medley being played. So I incorporated the Njarka and other stringed instruments representing the ancient to the modern. You can see the representational forms of the piano, violin, guitar, and banjo swirling in melody with the ancient Njarka as the anchor in this signature style Plastic Space abstraction.
